3-day itinerary A local's guide to Barossa MICHELIN and beyond

Where to stay:  The Villas – Barossa is a secluded, vineyard accommodation, perfectly located for MICHELIN dining, and exploring the Barossa’s culinary culture. We celebrate our region’s produce and producers, and your villa is stocked with abundant local and South Australian breakfast provisions.

The Barossa is an extraordinary place – made so by its people, the beating heart of this community.

The 2027 MICHELIN Guide has affirmed what Barossa locals and visitors to our region have long experienced – an authentic culinary destination grounded in a sense of community and place.

We’re proud of the Barossa restaurants recognised in the inaugural South Australian MICHELIN guide, and we’re equally proud of all Barossa dining establishments, hospitality staff, winemakers, producers and growers who contribute to the fabric of our region’s culinary excellence.

To truly experience Barossa MICHELIN and beyond, your time in our region should take you to acclaimed fine-dining restaurants, intimate wine-bars & bistros, cafés, traditional bakeries and butchers, providores, farmers markets and supermarkets proudly celebrating Barossa produce.  Ideally, you’ll meet our farmers, artisan producers, winemakers, chefs, distillers, passionate backyard growers, orchardists and maybe a home cook or two – who collectively contribute to the Barossa world-class culinary reputation.

Day One - Arrival

Lunch

The gorgeous David Franz cellar door is the perfect introduction to the Barossa’s the Barossa’s rich generational food culture, set on a hillside with sweeping vineyard views. David draws deeply on his family roots: with his father Peter championing Barossa grape-growers in the establishment of Peter Lehmann Wines, and his mother Margaret a passionate advocate for Barossa food and producers.

Lunch will be your selection from an extraordinary range of house-made Salumi Charcuterie and vegetarian and vegan options - all crafted by David. Add local cheeses and breads to ‘build your own’ platter…and settle in for a long afternoon.

Afternoon:

Check in to The Villas – Barossa, allowing time to settle into a slower pace.  Sink into a rocking chair on the deck, take in the beauty of the natural surroundings, and celebrate the simple pleasures of a rural lifestyle.

Dinner:

Tonight you’ll be dining at fermentAsian, where Chef/owner Tuoi Do has been serving modern Southeast Asian cooking in the Barossa Valley for over a decade.  Achieving MICHELIN-Selected recognition, fermentAsian is a relaxed, stylish environment, with a menu that has its roots firmly entrenched in Chef Tuoi’s Vietnamese heritage, and that of her parents.
